Oh, that every weekend was 3 days long!

So this has been pretty much the best Labor Day weekend in recent memory, if not ever : ) On Friday, Mer's sister Abigail came up to hang out with us and we decided to try the "Best of Palo Alto" Thai restaurant: Thaiphoon. It was definitely deserving of the title, probably better than Brown Sugar Cafe in Boston. Although my seafood noodle dish only came w/ 2 shrimp & 1 mussel, everything else was fantastic. For dessert... Mr. Bean's Holiday, so hilarious! Bean still is the most embarrassing character, super-unlucky yet always somehow pulling through & never getting the credit he deserves.

Saturday morning we got up & met up w/ Gloria and & drove through San Francisco, picked up Natalie @ USF & her bf, went over the Golden Gate Bridge, and up to the Point Reyes National Seashore... simply breathtaking! Love it when I can go out & actually see the things I've studied in the classroom (aka the Tomales Bay, formed by the shifting of the plates along the San Andreas Fault).

We spent Sunday with our "married friends" Jon & Kristin, had some great custom burgers at The Counter, experimented with some new bowling games (ask me about speed bowling at some point), and Abigail made some delicious tacos & guacamole with ingredients straight from a Mexican market. I also got some QT with Gloria... so fun to have family nearby!

Re-start... Like the Wind

So--let credit be given where it’s due--it’s largely thanks to my lovely wife that you are now reading this blog! Sadly I cannot be surrounded everyday by my friends and family like on the wedding/reception days, so hopefully this blog will serve to keep all of the people I love around the world a little more connected to my life. And if you just happen to find yourself here, welcome! I hope you find something inspiring, thought-provoking, and/or just plain silly!

After having completed my 3rd major move, I feel very much like the young people described in 24-7 Prayer’s vision who are “mobile like the wind, they belong to the nations.” It was a difficult decision to leave Boston, but even after a bit over a month here in Northern California, I can begin to see hints of the cool stuff that lies ahead for us in this new chapter. Although I miss people like crazy sometimes, I keep reminding myself to look forward to the plans that God has for my life and for the eventual giant reunion that will be heaven!

“The vision is an army of young people [...] They are mobile like the wind, they belong to the nations. People write their addresses in pencil and wonder at their strange existence.”

Revenge in a new light

Sometimes I can listen to a song over and over and never realize what it's actually saying. At times this is a great thing (no examples here, duh!); yet other times the song all of the sudden hits me like the recognition of the face of an old friend in the midst of a crowd... I had this experience with the song "Revenge" by Switchfoot on the plane to Austin. I couldn't get why they'd write a song about taking revenge, and then have it be this mellow, acoustic thing... Who wants to glorify revenge? But then, the lyrics finally sunk in, and I was literally moved to tears. We crucified Christ, drew his blood out, and that day God exacted his revenge on us---on Him! Vengeance most definitely is the Lord's, but somehow it makes Christ's gift so much more powerful and intimate and significant and relieving and awe-inspiring to see that His revenge was brutally thrown on Him as He was killed... for you, instead of you.

Congrats to Glor for graduating FHS!

Meredith & I at my sister Gloria's High School Commencement ceremony, in Framingham (or, more importantly, in the rain :(

My parents will be left all alone with our pooch once Gloria heads out to Cal Poly in August... boy does time fly!

Thus begins my official induction to the Blogosphere

Here I am at last! I might claim to love technology, but I've certainly taken my time to join certain elements of it.

Surrendered to the power of the blogosphere at last!

Lucky you.
